History Lesson. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
One day God said, "Let there be the clan." and he saw that this was good.
lol but on a serious note
[___] was founded on January 24, 2006, by battletoad, RoLaPo, sAbArAbAs and FattyJ. We are mostly a SA-MP clan, But now we play many games. including SA-MP, Crossfire, Counter-Strike: Source, Combat Arms, Project Torque, Call of duty 4: Modern Warefare, Battlefield Heroes, and of course, GTA:IV.
During the summer of 2006, battletoad and RoLaPo were introduced by a mutual friend. They were hanging out all night, and didn't know what to do, so battletoad busted out his PlayStation2 and put in Dave Mirra's Freestyle BMX 2. It turned out they both liked getting high and playing video games. So over the next couple of months, they would regularly get together to burn and complete a couple more objectives in Dave Mirra's game.
Fast forward a couple months, and things get more interesting. Battletoad was trying to get laid, and it seemed he needed to be in the World of Warcraft to seduce the lady he was after. After getting a new rig, he started playing WoW almost every day to help achieve his goal. The game was interesting, so he was able to convince RoLaPo to play as well. The online reflection of their gaming started to take shape.
I'm not sure if any of you readers have ever played WoW, but if you have, you likely know that it pretty much sucks. Neither battletoad nor RoLaPo ever got past level 30 because they only played while high, and it is hard to actually accomplish anything while stoned. The game was a dead end, although a complete success for the original reason it was brought into the group
Anyway, after a comment like, “MMOGTA would be the shit.â€ÂÂÂ, it was quickly found by Emminent. San Andreas:Multiplayer.
Breaking into the scene, we knew we were going to have to come up with a tag to use. We really didn't have a name for our clan though; it was just a group of people that pwned in games together, often at the same house. We figured since we were bad asses, we might as well be [BA], the Bad Asses, or Bad Ass Clan.
We rolled around for a minute using that tag. Battletoad put up a server, and started learning more and more about scripting and how to intertwine the game world with the web. RoLaPo and FattyJ continued to hone their skills and seek out potential pwners for the clan. It wasn't long before we started attracting members and growing in size.
One small problem popped up after a couple months though. There already was a [BA] clan, and they were way more bad ass than we were. And their [BA] meant Bassie and Adriaan Clowns. We had to give up our tag to some fucking clowns?
A war was waged against these “Clownsâ€ÂÂÂ, but it was in vein. We couldn't even take a dent out of their health.
So there we were, once again, a clan without a name. We still functioned as a clan, but with a major blow to our egos. WE were Bad Ass. Not these damn clowns.
We got by though. For the most part the clan played as a large group on a LAN anyway, so it didn't matter if we rolled tagless or not. We still knew what was up.
Fast forward through a bunch of crap, and we get to FattyJ joining the [sSs]. He knew what he was doing, although it still can't fully be exposed to the public. Battletoad was still learning about scripting, but doing very odd tasks that never accomplished much. RoLaPo continued to be a social butterfly. Other members came and went.
FattyJ really tuned his skills around this time. The [sSs] are good people, and had a pretty good community going at the time. There was a lot of skill there, and a lot of knowledge to be shared. FattyJ worked his way up the ranks pretty quickly, and was able to rally up the troops with great ease.
This is when battletoad noticed something about most clan's sites in the SAMP community. They seemed to be either based on uCoz, or using some varient of phpNuke. Both of these solutions for an online presence are fine, but somehow they seemed lacking. He had spent the past several months learning how to integrate a game server with a website, and couldn't figure out why other clans didn't do the same thing. In fact, many of them were opposed to the idea of even giving it a shot.
He was a very confused toad. Not only did every clan have a site that did no justice to their server, he had to register separately on every one! After so many, it's hard to even keep track of which sites you have already registered on. Does this one allow you to have your clan tag in your name, or is it one where those are illegal characters?
Battletoad decided then and there that he knew what his next project was going to be. He was going to create a custom content management system with the express goal of serving the San Andreas: Multiplayer community at large.
