Windows 7 & GTA IV
« on: February 27, 2010, 11:45:08 AM »
Hello!

I have a problem. I installed Windows 7 in January 2010, few days ago, I installed GTA IV too, but the problem is, I have only 2GB RAM so the game goes preety slow, here is my specs:

ATI Radeon HD 4850 512mb
2GB RAM
Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.8Ghz

Now, what is the better solution?
1) Downgrade to XP
2) Buy more RAM

P.S If I decide to buy more RAM, can I just buy 1GB more or 3GB all in package? On XP GTA IV was going great cuz XP doesn't need a lot of RAM.

Thank You for help!

if you close most of your background processes you probably won't need to do either one.. what do your GTA IV video settings look like? benchmark too :P

Also, your cpu is starting to get old.. or actually it is!
You should considering buying a new processor too.
AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 4.1GHz || 9500GT OC'd || Gigabyte MA770-UD3 || WD Blue 500GB || Ace Gears IV w/ 500W PSU || Components coming soon: GTX460 || Fractal Design Define R2 || Fractal Design Newton R2 650W

Thanx, I closed the programs I dont need in the task manager, and it left me 1.5GB RAM, which is ok for GTA IV..It runs better!

I wouldn't do any, Windows 7 is the future, and its pretty nice, the problem of your computer is the CPU, as GTA 4 is CPU intensive more than GPU. Get a better one.

Windows 7 is the future, agreed. But I think it sucks a lot. I mean, it is awesome, I love it. In my Notebook it runs great, but not for gaming. It takes a lot of memory, and I wont use a computer using the No-Aero theme
