Rockstar Games copyright?

I heard that IV:MP will become an illegal mod, because of copyright protection from Rockstar Games, and that Rockstar Games from start a legal case against IV:MP because of the copyright?

Is that true?

And it could be true because it allready have a multiplayer section. ;)
